enough interviews on how he became great. i'd like one on how he lost his greatness. what was the first thing to go? when did you know it was only a matter of time? did it all go at once?

Try to make good pitches. Damn why didn't I think of that? All the millions I coulda made being a MLB pitcher.

Maddux deliberately sabotaging this interview is great. “I just try to make good pitches and get people out”. It’s like the most horrifically generic advice possible.

I think he’s just being honest. that technically is what he was doing. make good pitches and get people out. that’s the entire goal of every pitcher. he just doesn’t explain any strategy of how he does it

So lucky to be able to watch this man, Smoltz, Glavin, and Rocker pitch in the 90s. Just and unstoppable pitching lineup. The 90s Braves were so impressive. I remember watching the games with my granny, those were great years.

If you were born between 1976-1988, had cable, and liked baseball, you were watching the Braves on TBS for sure. They had 4 legitimate #1 starters for almost a decade straight. Their offense was scary, and their defense was highly overlooked.

TALKING ABOUT TURNING THE MEDIOCRE INTO THE EXCELLENT. THATS THE GREGG MADDOX STORY TO ME, HE WAS THE ROCKY BALBOA OF BASEBALL! HE NEVER HAD THE BLAZE HEATER! JUST OFF SPEED, CONTROL AND LOCATION, YET WHEN HE METICULOUSLY COMBINED THEM HE WAS TOP FLIGHT! PLAYING FOR THE S C(R)UBS, HE SUFFERED BADLY! HE COULD HAVE WON 400 GAMES EASILY IF WITH THE BRAVES HIS ENTIRE CAREER! HE WAS THE SMARTEST I EVER SAW IN HIS BATTLES! HE WOULD JUST SIMPLY OUT THINK YA AND OUT CONTROL YA WITH THE BEST LOCATIONS POSSIBLY EVER! AND HIS AFTER GAME INTERVIEWS WERE SOME OF THE BEST OF ALL TIME IMO! HE JUST HAD A FORTHWRIGHT WAY OF BREAKING THINGS DOWN TO SIMPLICITY AND HOW ITS "JUST BASEBALL AFTER ALL" HE HAD HIS PERSPECTIVE CLEAR ON LIFE & KNEW HE WAS GETTING A "FREE" RIDE & FLOORED IT! LONG CAREER AS WELL. MY FAVORITE PITCHER BY FAR THEN RANDY JOHNSON! BLESS
